How many times have we heard that “music has the power to save lives?” RUDIMENTS

is a story of Black music and mentorship in New Orleans across four generations of

teachers and students. We follow the local heroes who carry forward the city’s cherished

cultural traditions from marching band rehearsal rooms to Mardi Gras parade routes and

beyond. RUDIMENTS is a story of role models intervening in the lives of the most

vulnerable through cultural preservation and violence prevention.
